Does Mad River Mulch deliver?
Yes! We can deliver anywhere between 1 and 100 cubic yards (depending on the type of mulch) to your home or place of business.
How much is delivery?
Delivery pricing is calculated based on distance and quantity. For example, delivery for up to 5 miles away starts at $50.00 plus product.
How much mulch should I apply?
Here are some suggested application rates:
Around Trees: 3-4 inches
Around Bushes: 3-4 inches
Flower Gardens: 4-5 inches
Playgrounds: 12-18 inches
How much is a cubic yard?
One cubic yard is a three dimensional cube that measures 3 feet long and 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
What is Mad River Mulch & Topsoil's delivery cancellation policy?
Customers may cancel their delivery at any time. Please call 937-882-6115 or email info@madrivermulch.com.
If the cancellation occurs before the delivery date a full refund will be given.
If the cancellation occurs on the requested delivery date, Mad River Mulch & Topsoil may charge any fees (e.g., delivery fees) associated with the delivery and deduct these amounts from the amount refunded. This includes deliveries where we are unable to access the property, the delivery is cancelled on-site, or the customer is not available.
Cancellation due to weather will not incur a charge.
How much does a cubic yard cover?

One cubic yard covers:
120 square feet: 2″ thick
80 square feet: 3″ thick
60 square feet: 4″ thick
40 square feet: 6″ thick
20 square feet: 12″ thick
How do I figure cubic yards?
Multiply the LENGTH (ft) by the WIDTH (ft) to get the AREA in Sqft.
Multiply the AREA by the DEPTH (ft) to get the CUBIC FEET:
2″ = .166 feet
3″ = .250 feet
4″ = .333 feet
5″ = .416 feet
6″ = .500 feet
12″ = 1.00 feet
Divide cubic feet by 27 to get the CUBIC YARDS…
EXAMPLE: 42′ long x 8′ wide x .250 (3″ deep) = 84 cubic feet / 27 = 3.12 cubic cards
How much does a cubic yard weigh?
Weights for products will vary due to moisture content. Approximate weights per product type are:
Mulch Products: 400-800 lbs.
Compost: 1,000 – 1,600 lbs.
Soil Blends: 1,600 – 2,000 lbs.
How much can my pickup hold?
A full size ¾ or 1 ton pickup can hold 2-3 cubic yards of mulch, slightly rounded, but weight must be considered. Most full size pickups can handle 3 yards of mulch, 2 yards of compost or 1-1.5 yards of soil product depending on the size of the pickup truck bed. Never load more than what is reasonable or what your vehicle is specified to carry.
